Common questions

What if my partner is unsure about attending?

Contact Qxplore to discuss your options. Joint counselling needs to be voluntary. If you are attending alone ask your therapist to help you explore your concerns and choices.

How long does couples counselling take?

The concerns involved, your goals and the clinician’s approach affect the therapeutic plan. Ask your therapist about therapeutic goals and when progress will be reviewed.

Are appointments in person or online?

Ask Qxplore about current appointment options, the clinician you would see and whether the format is appropriate for your circumstances.

What does counselling cost? Can insurance help?

Confirm the current fee before booking. Benefits coverage depends on your plan and the clinician’s designation. Check eligibility, limits and documentation with your insurer.

Is couples counselling suitable for every situation?

A clinician should assess whether joint counselling is appropriate. Where there is fear, coercion, threats or violence, individual safety and appropriate specialist support take priority. Seek advice privately if safe. In an emergency, call 911.
