Richard Crysler, B.A., B.S.W., R.S.W.
Richard is a Registered Social Worker and Clinical Therapist assessing and treating people of all ages with mental health and addictions issues. He provides Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for anxiety, depression, and substance use. He has extensive experience providing treatment to adult male survivors of childhood sexual abuse, people with same sex issues, people with HIV/AIDS, and those who have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He also works with the partners and families of these clients.
Richard has worked extensively with emergency and crisis based child welfare and youth services. In particular he has worked with children and youth related to their adjustment and mental health as well as providing counseling and therapy to youth experiencing substance abuse and addictions problems.
Richard has lengthy experience in the coordination and provision of psycho-social rehabilitation with persons who have serious mental health issues as well as the provision of supportive education and treatment of families of persons with mental health and substance use problems. He has particular experience in assessment and treatment of persons with concurrent disorder.
Richard has worked with diverse ethno-racial and ethno-cultural populations in Canada and overseas including refugees, newcomer and migrant populations. He has been involved in the provision of international humanitarian aid including management, clinical supervision, program development and psycho-social support of families.
Richard has extensive knowledge of treatment resources in the Golden Horseshoe area of Ontario.
