D. Lynn Andrews, Ph.D., C.Psych.

Psychologist

Dr. Andrews completed her B.A. (Honours) Psychology at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax; her M.Sc. in Applied Clinical Psychology at Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John’s; and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa. She has worked as a Psychologist in Ontario since 1997, and has previous experience as a Psychologist in Nova Scotia.

Dr. Andrews has worked in a variety of settings, including school boards, hospital in-patient and out-patient services, private practice, police services, veteran’s affairs, and universities (teaching in the psychology department & counselling through the university counselling center).

Areas of experience include:

Therapy with adults: Individual therapy with adults from emotion-focused, humanistic/experiential, and cognitive-behavioural perspectives, group therapy (cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic), and couples therapy (emotion-focused).

Therapy with children: Cognitive-behavioural therapy involving consultation to caregivers and parenting workshops.

Therapy problem types: Main focus is anxiety, depression, workplace stress and abuse, career counselling, couples counselling.

Assessment: Psychoeducational assessments of school-aged children including social/emotional diagnoses, administration of a comprehensive career counselling battery for adults including social/emotional issues.

Counselling for personal growth and coping strategies (e.g., grieving, assertiveness training, stress management).

Teaching: Taught courses in psychopathology at the university level; taught various workshops (e.g., study skills, assertiveness training, stress management).
